WSWA 74th Annual Convention & Exposition: “The Right Mix of Connections, Competitions, Education, Entertainment…and Fun”

István Szepsy Jr., an 18th generation winemaker from Hungary presented the MÁD FURMINT in Orlando.

US beverage alcohol industry’s premier event, organized for the first time in 1943, celebrating 74th anniversary this year, will remain a remarkable memory for us.

“Innovation in Hungary. Furmint – the grape that heralds 500 years of a family’s heritage of winemaking” was the cover story announcing the grand debut of Hungary’s dry Furmint in the Tasting Panel Magazine’s April issue released for the WSWA.

István Szepsy Jr., 18th generation winemaker of Szent Tamás Winery from Hungary’s Tokaj Wine Region, Mád, presented in person the flagship of the “2017 – The Year of Furmint” campaign in North America, the MÁD FURMINT.

A special person – a special wine – at a very special occasion.

This year’s event spotlighted inspirational and educational speakers like Chris Wallace of Fox News and Mick Ebeling of Not Impossible Labs during General Sessions, sponsored by the Distilled Spirits Council.

The WSWA 74th Annual Convention & Exposition provided also showcase opportunities for long established brands as well as hot new products and trends in two Exhibit Halls and popular Traditional and Lower Level Hospitality Suites.

The multi-day event featured the popular Wine and Spirits Tasting, Call for Cocktails, and Wholesaler Iron Mixologist Competitions.  All competitions were judged by independent industry experts organized by The Tasting Panel Magazine, The Somm Journal, and The Clever Root.

Evening events provided wholesalers, suppliers, exhibitors and members of the media with prime networking and socializing opportunities. The popular Opening Night Reception created the perfect atmosphere to connect and unwind after the day’s sessions and meetings.  Wholesalers, media and invited guests were welcomed to join Jägermeister as they relaunched their brand to historic new heights with the unveiling of ‘Deutsch after Darke.’  Another popular event took place the next evening at the Taste of the Industry, a grand tasting that encourages sampling, conversation, and networking.

“Family-owned American wholesalers help consumers enjoy the widest array of products and variety available anywhere in the world—and the WSWA Annual Convention & Exposition is the event where wholesalers solidify existing relationships and establish new portfolio partners.  This year’s program offers informative speakers, educational sessions like our popular Brand Battle, and numerous opportunities for suppliers and wholesalers to connect and network, along with the fun and excitement for which WSWA is known,” said WSWA President and CEO Craig Wolf.
