One of the world's largest wine collectors of Hungarian origin visiting Tokaj
At the end of April 2015 a new wine tour was organized to the Tokaj Wine Region within the frame of which one of the worlds largest wine collectors of Hungarian origin - George A. Manner - was also our guest.
The four-day tour aligned a rich variety of programs. In addition to the visits paid to St. Tamás, Patrícius and Szepsy Wineries we had part of unforgettable culinary experiences as courtesy of Gusteau Culinary Workshop from Mád, which was the venue of the Tokaj wine shows and wine tastings as well as host of an imposing gala dinner to accompany the Great Tokaj Wine Auction program. The tour made at Aszú House Wine Archives also from Mád, standing just before the opening, was also a great experience, especially for having as guide the owner himself to present the construction, functions and future activities of House.
The Great Tokaj Wine Auction held at the Castle of Sárospatak was in the highlight of the wine tour. Following the blind tasting of the 19 auction lots and a picnic lunch in the castle garden, participants could take part on a wine auction in a really unique environment with special historical atmosphere.
Aimed in particular for Canadian wine professionals the wine tours have as goal to make guests acquainted with the region's grape varieties, vineyards peculiarities, the traditions and methods of wine making, attend wine tastings and pay visits to those wineries which constantly compete with their wines on national and international markets, win prestigious awards and are ready to be introduced to Canadian wine experts and consumers, too.
