Following the opening of Tokaj Wine Boutique Restaurant and House of the Hungarian Wines as well as the first wine tasting dinner organized in December 2013, a new possibility was offered for the introduction of the Tokaj Wines to the Canadian public. Organized by Vinum Tokaj International LLC. and Vinum Tokaj Canada Inc., in co-operation with Riviera Parque Banquet and Convention Center, marking a new stage in the wine promotional program, a wine conference was held on the 29th of March to make the guests – among them the biggest Canadian companies’ leaders - acquainted with the best wines of Tokaj.

Presentation was held on the Tokaj Wine region and the unique grape varieties characteristic to the area, complemented with a wine tasting including the top wines in dry, sweet and late harvest categories from First Winehouse of Mád/Szent Tamás and Patricius Wineries.

The Furmint, Hárslevelű and Yellow Muscat produced in outstanding standards and quality are all types which could become the flagship of Hungarian wines, establishing real Hungarian wine brands on the North-American market, too.

Great interest was shown towards the Dry by Tokaj, Sweet by Tokaj wines produced especially for the Canadian market by the First Winehouse of Mád (Els? Mádi Borház) as well as Patricius’s late harvest Katinka, which have all received very positive feedback during the tasting.

The press conference to accompany the event had as speakers Mrs. Stefánia Szabó, General Consul of Hungary, Mr. Ödön Király, Economic and Trade Commissioner, Mr. Lorenzo Zeppieri, President of Veroli Cultural Society, and Mr. Sándor Balla, President of Vinum Tokaj Canada.

The aim of the organizers was to foster and realize the promotion of the high quality Tokaj wines in a broad customer group, facilitate the increase of their sales in Canada, and generally throughout North America.

As Attila Balla, President of Vinum Tokaj International LLC. emphasized, the intention of the organizers was to reach audience, professional and consumer target groups through different events in other cities of Canada, too.

As a result of a yearlong enduring marketing and market building activity performed by the Vinum Tokaj International LLC. in the North American market, they expect a breakthrough and reverberating success with the premium quality Hungarian wines, with highlight on the ones from Tokaj wine region.
