The annually organized gala dinner of the Corvina Canadian Hungarian Business Directory was held this year on the 27th of February. The event aimed to celebrate the twelfth appearance of the Corvina Business Directory, the publication presenting Hungarian Canadian businesses. Within the framework of a wine presentation and tasting offered by one of the main sponsors of the evening, the Vinum Tokaj Canada Inc., participants of the Canadian Hungarian business community could get acquainted with some Hungarian wines of excellence.
Joseph Safian sommelier presented the Dry by Tokaj, chosen by Top Choice as the “Top Imported White Wine of Canada”, the Tornai Aranyhegy Juhfark from Somló as white wines, as well as the Vylyan Belzebub dry red wine from Villány offered for tasting with the courses of the dinner.
Guests of honor attending the dinner were Mr. László Sinka, Trade Commissioner at Embassy of Hungary in Ottawa, Mrs. Mariann Demeter-Pintér, Trade Counsellor from the Hungarian General Consulate in Toronto and former federal MP Corneliu Chisu and Eve Adams.
Three business prizes were handed over during the evening. The "Entrepreneur of the Year" award was granted to Marika Pélyvás, owner of Ashgrove Spa and the "Lifetime Achievement Award" to Joseph A. Berkovics, owner of Joseph Food and Cakes.
