60 Years Old Tokaji Aszú and Dry by Tokaj At The 60th Anniversary.
Majestic, uplifting feasts commemorated the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and the 60. anniversary of the fight for freedom in two cities of the North American continent, in Toronto and Los Angeles.
To contribute to the high level events and make them an even more memorable one, on assignment from the Ministry of Agriculture, Vinum Tokaj International LLC. organized the presentation of a real unique wine specialty, the 5 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú for which the grape harvest started 60 years ago, on October 22, 1956.
By initiative of Dr. Sándor Fazekas, Minister of Agriculture and Dr. Eliza Kiss, Ministerial Commissioner for Wine Sector Development, 150 bottles of 1956 vintage Tokaji Aszú from the cellars of the National Wine Treasury in Tolcsva were rebottled to commemorate the 60th anniversary.
Considered the gift of the Revolution, and one of the best vintage aszú wine of the past century, this legendary wine specialty was presented in London, Paris, Toronto and Los Angeles in the frame of festive series of events.
With the collaboration of Attila Balla, president of Vinum Tokaj International LLC, the ’56 Aszú was introduced and offered for tasting in Toronto to some 60, in Los Angeles to nearly 30 freedom fighters.
The 250 guests of the event organized on October 22, in Toronto were welcomed by His Excellency dr. Bálint Ódor, Ambassador of Hungary in Canada, Dr. András Botond Fecső, President of the Canadian Hungarian Cultural Centre and Sándor Balla, Vice President of the Canadian-Hungarian Cultural Council.
In the framework of the gala dinner, following his festive speech, Dr. Mihály Varga, Minister for National Economy and Dr. Stefánia Szabó, Consul General of Hungary in Toronto, handed over certificates of merit to those revolutionaries who found a home in Canada, at the same time expressed their special thanks for Canada to receive some 35.000 Hungarian refugees and to declare their arrival to Canada as part of the Canadian national historic heritage.
Guests of the dinner in Toronto saluted the revolution and his heroes with the Canadian prize winning Dry by Tokaj Furmint, prepared by Mad Wine Ltd., offered also during the evening to accompany dishes of the dinner.
“Where heroes are not forgotten, there will be always new ones”. We trust, that with this wonderful Tokaji Aszú and special Furmint from Mád, we were able to honor gracefully the heroes and to add a special memory to these dignified events.
