After nearly 35 years, we have been part of a fantastic Hungarian success in Hollywood. On the prize-giving eve of 88th Academy Awards we were present at the "Hungarians in Hollywood” Pre-Oscar Gala Dinner with renowned wineries’ wines - real Hungarian wines of excellence - which compete and worthily represent the Hungarian wine industry all around the world.
The support provided by the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture for the promotion of Hungarian wines in third countries, as well as the Hungarian National Tourist Office’s sponsorship for representing Hungarian wines on foreign markets, made it possible to present and serve along with the gala dinner’s dishes some really excellent Hungarian wines, like the St. Tamás Winery’s Mád Furmint, István Szepsy’s Szent Tamás Furmint and 6 Puttonyos Aszú, the Patrícius Winehouse’s 6 Puttonyos Aszú and Bock Winery's Magnifico.
During the event which was organized to celebrate the success of the Hungarian film and the Son of Saul’s Oscar nomination we had to chance to present the Hungarian wines to such notable personalities as Colleen Bell, the US Ambassador to Hungary, dr. Réka Szemerkényi, Hungarian Ambassador to the US, Michael Baker and Tom Bernard, the film distributor’s Sony Pictures Classics co-founders and co-presidents, Andrew Vajna, Government Commissioner for Hungarian film industry, Ágnes Havas, the Hungarian National Film Fund director, Gene Simmons, frontman for KISS, the filmmakers and the main actors, such as László Nemes Jeles, director, cinematographer Mátyás Erdély, Gábor Sipos & Gábor Rajna producers and Géza Röhrig main character, as well as Hollywood stars and some dominant players of the film business and economic life.
Hungarian wine is an essential part of the nation’s culture as Hungary has several centuries of experience in viticulture and winemaking. The pairing of film and wine can be considered a really fortunate combination - many Hungarian films and Hungarian wines fittingly represent the country abroad and the commitment to the performance and profession of its inhabitants.
We consider it important to be present with our wines at such unique, specific locations where – in synergy with other Hungarian products – we can contribute to building the country's image.
We are proud to accompany the Son of Saul’s path in the US with Hungarian wines since its last November presentation and provide support to the film during the Oscar award contest.
Our sincere appreciation and acknowledgement for the film's creators and its patrons for the Oscar! We look forward to many more Hungarian successes that we can celebrate with the most outstanding Hungarian wines.
